1. What’s this all about?
The idea is simple: to offer you an easy, fast, up-datable and cheap way to promote yourself or advertise your business to the young and internet savvy in cool Kenya – and the rest of the world. Don’t think small!

So, everyone’s welcome to buy pixels, which are available in 100-pixel ‘blocks’ of 10 x 10 pixels. The main display is divided into 10,000 of these 100-pixel blocks making 1,000,000 pixels in total. The reason for selling them in 100-pixel blocks is because anything smaller would be too small to display anything meaningful.

You can buy as many pixels as you like, as long as they are available. When you buy pixels, you can then display an image / ad / logo of your choice in the space you have purchased. This will also show a slogan of your choice as a hover as a visitor’s mouse pauses over your space. The image will click through to a pop-up web-page where you can give your details, where you’re at, what you do, latest offers etc. This page will include a link to your your own web-site or further web pages if you wish. No obscene or offensive images are allowed.

The pixels you buy will be displayed on the main display. Your subscription buys you your space for one year.

2. How did you come up with the idea?
It’s not original! The first such site was developed by an English student, and was immediately copied all over Europe and the USA. This site however is the first in Africa, and has been specially developed to suit the market here, both from a technical and commercial point of view. The site is designed to load fast over slow internet links, and pricing and marketing arrangements have been tailored for local requirements.

3. Why should I buy your pixels?
Because you will have an image, contact and promotional information and a link to your own web-page on a site that will be aggressively promoted and could potentially be seen by millions of people over the coming years. Your pixels will be online for at least one year, that’s guaranteed, but the idea is to keep the site online indefinitely. You can renew your subscription annually.

4. Why can’t I buy a single pixel?
It would be a great idea if individuals could buy a single pixel each. But in practice, it wouldn't work. You can’t display anything meaningful in one pixel, nor can you click it easily, so basically it would be pointless. Thousands of random tiny coloured dots all over the display would also look awful!

Hence the minimum purchase is a 10x10 block which allows you to have a meaningful graphic on the main display.
However! If you really want to own a single pixel, you could always club together with friends / family / colleagues to buying a 10x10 block.

5. What if I need to keep product lists, for example, up to date?
You can! The basic price per 10 x 10 block includes a static pop-up web-page that is suitable for promoting yourself or your organisation. But for a small additional charge, you can have a password that allows you to update all the information on your pop-up at any time, including your product and price lists if you wish.

6. What if I do / don’t have a web-site of my own already?
If you already have a web-site of your own, you can link through from the pop-up to your site. This will greatly increase the traffic to your site - and the people who click through will be good potential customers. Our site is optimised for good search-engine performance, so people looking for goods and services, travel and entertainment – or even just new friends – will visit our site. And hence yours!
If you don’t have a site of your own already, the pop-up page included in the price on our site may be all you need. But if you would like something more, we can help you! Simple, attractive sites, including your dynamically up-datable information, product and price lists etc, are available ‘off the shelf’ at a very modest charge. Or you can ask us to produce (and manage) a full scale site for you at attractive rates.

7. How do I tell my friends / customers where my pixels are?
Your pixels have a two number address on the main display, which is visible in the ‘hover’ as your mouse goes over the pixels. If you give those numbers to people, they will easily be able to go to your pixels.
In addition, your name will appear in a categorised and alphabetical list on the site, so that your information can be read and located manually.

9. I don’t have a digital logo for either the main page or for the pop-up?
You don’t need one. We can provide attractive house style images at no charge that will do a good job for you. Or, if you wish, we can prepare digital images for you off your business cards or promotional material for a small charge

10. I want to sell pixels for you...
